A Very Hilly, Chill(y) Nyack
November 14, 2021 @ 08:30 - 11:30 EST
Dude…. I wrote up some shit and it deleted itself just an hour ago — And I sure as hell cannot find myself writing the whole thing up again. However, I think some people may like this more direct style of putting things out there:
This Sunday, we doin big climb x2; GWB (Fort Lee Side) -> River Road -> Ranger Station -> Piermont -> Out of Piermont to South Tweed -> Boxer -> Backroads -> SB -> Home.
I know, “Chill? Big climbs? Somethin ain’t adding up here…“, but I’m happy to tell you that we’re going moderately paced; 2.5 W/kg at most, if not all times, equating to about 16-17mph on flats, 8-10 on hills, and some uncertain faster speed going down the hills.
How will this ride feel to me?
If you can hold 14-15mph @ 130bpm, you will feel moderately challenged by this ride; any more than a 15mph aerobic baseline, and this may feel more like a social ride.
Logistics:
1. Meet GWB (Fort Lee Side) @ 8:20, roll out 8:30
2. Quick regroup at Ranger Station, not an actual break
3. Boxer Donut for 20-30 mins; I’m thinking of keeping it short so we don’t freeze to death, but will ultimately go by consensus
4. Strictly’s
Warnings:
1. I fully expect people at times to push pace and go up the road, I understand that rolling Z1/Z2 all day may be a bit underwhelming at times, but I will not follow, and I don’t want people who already feel challenged at our pace to feel any pressure to do more than they feel capable of.
2. If you have the slightest concern that you may get dropped on this ride, I would recommend having the route uploaded on your head unit for the back road section on return.

Thanks, and I’ll see you all out there 🙂
