SUMMARY:Social Cycling NYC: Thursday AFTERNOON Social Ride Thanksgiving Edition
DESCRIPTION:Ever endeavoring to turn social cyclists into cycling commuters. The goals are to ride bikes and hang out with friends that love riding bikes.\nFeel free to contact us with any questions/concerns.\n\nSocialCyclingNYC@gmail.com\n\nCAUTION: If you like to ride ahead of the lead\, please be sure to test the route for your own safety and for the safety of anyone that doesn’t know the route and follows you. Feel free to ride ahead on bridges as we always mass up on the other side.\n\nWHAT YOU NEED:\nNYC Department of Transportation Bicycle Laws\, Rules & Regulations require: White headlight and red taillight must be used from dusk to dawn\, bell or other audible signal (not whistle)\, working brakes\, and reflective tires and/or other reflective devices.\nSocial Cycling NYC strongly recommends that every cyclist: Follows NYC DOT rules\, EXPECTS all cyclists to accept personal responsibility for their own actions (or lack thereof)\, and recommends cyclists bring/use bikes\, helmets\, locks\, IDs\, money for food and drinks\, and cycling friends!\n\nHOW: WE ride AS traffic and NOT AGAINST it. We stop at red lights\, yield the right of way and let cars pass as best we can. We don’t block intersections. We are nice to both our fellow riders and the other traffic on the road. LISTEN TO the volunteers helping to lead the ride. They are some nice people and have your best interests in mind. If you have any questions about the rules\, please check here: http://on.nyc.gov/19dsixi\n\nREMINDER: The goal is to create a safe environment for all riders\, but we cannot control\, nor do we desire to\, every rider’s behavior. We promote personal responsibility and all riders are responsible for themselves. If you choose to ride with us\, then you accept the risks inherent in riding a bicycle with a large group of other people riding bicycles. \n\n*Meetup time/place is different this week so please\ncheck the deets!\n\nHappy Turkey Day everyone~\nThis week we’ll be meeting at the Pit on Forsyth and Broome in Manhattan. From there we will cut around and down the west village\, roll through downtown and make our way over the Brooklyn Bridge. Once in Brooklyn we’ll put in a few miles and end at Culyer Gore.  We will do our best to stick together but please have someone’s number to call in case you get separated from the group. There are a few stretches where everyone will be invited to pedal at their preferred pace and mass up points will be called out along the\nroute.   So grab your bike\, lights\, lock\, bell\, cash and bring your friends!!\n\n\n\nRIDE LEADER: Reb\nWHEN: Meet up at 1:30 pm\, Wheels down at 2:00 pm!\nMEET-UP: The Pit\nEND SPOT: Cuyler Gore\nDISTANCE: <10 miles\n \n\n\n*route subject to change based on conditions\n\n\nEver endeavoring to turn social cyclists into cycling commuters.
