CFNY heads to the Orchards

Hope you guys love apple pie n donuts, because this weekend the CFNY gang heads to The Orchards. Skipping the 9W to keep things interesting, we’ll be heading deeper into Engelwood to take the smooth, flat local backroads headed North through West Nyack that allow for some SPICY hammer time. Soon enough afterwards, we’ll be headed up Little Tor for a climb that would even kill Julian Alaphillipe (430ft @ ~11%), back around for a fast and technical descent where you’ll really get to lean that bike in DEEP, and then another short climb back up South Mountain road to the beloved Orchards. From here on, we’re headed back through another set of back roads where we’ll be mostly descending and rolling fast and steady on the flats, and then subsequently being kicked square in the teeth with a quick 200ft climb @ ~6.8% back out to the 9W and Strictly’s. And so, if you’re a little masochistic, love to handle the shit outta your bike, and have the sugar tooth of a 4 year old child like me, we’ll see you out there!

LOGISTICS; PACE/STOPS/ROUTE:
PACE:
With our current rider composition at an average ~2.8-3W/kg, we’re expecting to move on the flats, at all times, at speeds of 16-18mph when we’re resting @ Z2. And when the egos rise, and the vibes hit just right, that pace can go upwards of 22mph for extended periods of time. You MIGHT survive if you can draft tight and have a W/kg of at least 2.6, but be ready to SUFFER.
STOPS:
There will be three (3) stops along the total ride: 1) Mi. 25 @ West Nyack Deli, 2) Mi. 37 @ The Orchards, and 3) Mi. 57 @ Rivervale Deli. Stops 1 & 3 will be kept prompt, being around 15 minutes to hit the water hole and refuel (and perhaps empty the water hole as well if you’re a hydro homie like me). Stop 2 will be played by ear, there’ll be some time to chat and relax a bit.
