Now this week we’re really taking care of business (at a high endurance/tempo pace anywhere between 17-19mph, chill af on the hills) — and this one is actually quite personal for me as one of the last routes that I had drafted up, sometime around early May this year, before I really burned out of cycling and had to quit for basically the whole riding season. And so I’m not only excited for present me to get some sweet revenge on past me, but also to get out and share this dope ass route with you guys as well. It’s basically the original championship route down by about 30%, a few tweaks, and without all the parts you’d find people doing on any other weekend.

As for the route, we’re going to be, of course, starting off at SB, heading up the 9W to Piermont, before jumping right back out through my favorite alternate climb, and then rolling straight into Nyack for some Boxer Donuts. After a little bit of rest and chit-chat, we’ll be headed up through Haverstraw and Beach Road, where we’ll experience being right on the shore of the Hudson River, before pausing momentarily again for a quick water refill, continuing up through famous Gate Hill Road and Cheesecote where we’ll suffer and contemplate our life choices, and then subsequently enjoy some pies at Orchards like nothing ever happened. And then we’ll hit a nice windy descent into the back roads that we’ve all been hitting these past two months with a bunch of rollers, cute lake passes and stuff, and then we’ll be back to the 9W and Strictly’s before you know it.

This entire ride will be soft drop with regroups at the rest stops, but if you can hold 15-16mph @ 130-140BPM on your own AND draft, you’ll be totally fine.

LOGISTICS:
1. Meet at SB @ 8:15, rolling out at 8:30 sharp
2. (Mi. 18) Boxer Donut to chill and grab some food and drink (~30 minutes)
3. (Mi. 31) Shell Gas Station primarily as a water stop + riding food (~10 minutes)
4. (Mi. 50) Orchards for pies, donuts, cookies, whatever you can really get your hands on at that point (~30 minutes)
5. (Mi. 66) Gas Station for water refills (~10 minutes)

WARNINGS:
1. Having the GPX/TCX on your head unit is absolutely necessary on this ride. Although our pace will be slightly easier than any of our past rides, we will be spending extraordinarily prolonged moments, about 40 miles, in the backroads where you may get lost.
2. Again, this entire ride will be SOFT DROP with regroups at the rest stops, but if you can hold 15-16mph on your own AND draft, you’ll be totally fine.
